Subaru Park Bag Policy

Subaru Park (originally PPL Park and Talen Energy Stadium) is home to the Major League Soccer team, Philadelphia Union, at 1 Stadium Dr, Chester, PA 19013, along the Delaware River. There is a clear bag policy at the Union soccer stadium that allows single-compartment bags to enter as long as they don’t exceed 14″ x 14″ x 6″. Along with allowing single-compartment clear bags into the venue, fans can also bring in small clutches that don’t exceed 4″ x 6″. The bags that can’t enter the venue include backpacks, camera bags, computer bags, larger purses, and coolers.

Approved Bags

The security team only allows clear bags to enter the venue if they don’t exceed 14″ x 14″ x 6″. However, exceptions can occur at the gate, such as if you need to bring a medical bag or something similar. Below are the types of bags that can enter the venue.

 

• A clear single-compartment bag that does not exceed 14″ x 14″ x 6″
• Diaper Bags/Medical Bags. (As a note, these bags don’t need to be clear, but please consider bringing a clear bag. Bringing a clear bag into the venue ensures no issues with your bag and helps the security team review the content faster at the gate.)
• A one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag
• A clear fanny pack that does not exceed the size limit
• Small clutch bags/ small purses that don’t exceed the size of 4″ x 6″

 

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience

I have not been to Subaru Park for a game, but I have had community members on this site who have. Below is a quote from a community member who went to the stadium in 2023.

 

• Colin (10-14-2023): The bag policy was absolutely enforced: clear bags only. The woman in front of us in the security line was sent back to her car due to a large fabric handbag. They were a little loose as to size, because it was cool and people were bringing blankets, but they were strict on transparency. 

 

For me, I always recommend fans bring a clear fanny pack to stadiums if they needed to bring a bag to the game. My clear fanny pack measures 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″, so it is much smaller than the max size that most stadiums allow fans to bring into venues. Plus, the fanny pack is not bulky, so I can wear it across my chest as I walk around the stadium since it looks better that way. How Does the Subaru Park Security Team Review Bags?

Fans entering the Philadelphia Union stadium for a soccer game will first go through a metal detector screening at the entrance. Fans with a bag will have that go through an additional screening process. The screening process for the bag includes reviewing how big it is and if there are prohibited items inside it. Assuming there are no issues with your bag, you will get it back to enter the stadium with.

 

What are the Prohibited Items That Can’t Enter Subaru Park?

• Animals not for ADA purposes
• Beach balls
• Bags that exceed the size of 14″ x 14″ x 6″
• Backpacks, Briefcases, camera bags, computer bags, and duffle bags, luggage bags, etc.
• Drones
• Fireworks
• Outside food and drink
• Laser pointers
• Umbrellas

 

Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area at Subaru Park?

If your bag can’t enter Subaru Park, the home of the Philadelphia Union, you will need to bring them back to your car and leave it there. Subaru Park does have a strict clear bag policy guide that fans adhere to on the game day, so if your bag is not clear, leave it in your car before heading to the venue.

 

If you took public transportation to the game and didn’t have a car to leave your bag in, consider seeing if a nearby restaurant or hotel can watch your stuff. A few nearby hotels and bars are within walking distance of the Union venue, so see if they can watch your stuff. Most places charge a small fee to hold onto bags while you are at the game.
