Paycom Center Bag Policy

Paycom Center (formerly Chesapeake Energy Arena) is home to the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA team at 100 W Reno Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73102. The Paycom Center bag policy in 2023 does not allow bags larger than 6″ x 9″ x 2″ to enter the venue.

Here is the complete Paycom Center bag policy guide for your next event. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

Approved Bags

While the OKC Thunder venue does not explicitly require clear bags, bringing in a clear bag will help speed up the bag inspection process at the gate. Below are the types of bags fans can bring into the OKC venue.

  • A single-compartment bag that does not exceed 6″ x 9″ x 2″
  • Any ADA-specific bag
  • A clear bag that does not exceed 6″ x 9″ x 2″
  • Medical bags and diaper bags
  • A clear plastic Ziplock bag
  • Small clutches and similar types of bags

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience

My Clear Bag Recommendation

As a note, the new bag policy at Paycom Center (2023) is now 6″ x 9″ x” 2 in size. My recommendation is that if you need to bring in a bag that it would be a clear fanny pack that does not exceed that size limit. Below is a video of me going into detail on why I like bringing my clear fanny pack to games.

How Does the Paycom Center Security Staff Review Bags

Fans arriving at Paycom Center for a Thunder game or concert will undergo a metal detector screening at the entrance before entering the venue. Fans who have a bag with them will have that go through a bag inspection check at the gate. The bag inspection includes reviewing the content inside the bag and ensuring it is no larger than 6″ x 9″ x 2″. As a reminder, backpacks can’t come into the NBA arena with fans.

Is There a Locker Storage Area for Fans to Use at Paycom Center?

Is There a Locker Storage Area for Fans to Use at Paycom Center

There is no official bag check or locker storage area for fans to use at Paycom Center if they can’t bring their bag into the arena. If your bag can’t come into the NBA venue with you, you must bring it back to your car and leave it there.

If you don’t have a car to leave your bag in, see if a nearby hotel or bar in downtown Oklahoma City can watch your stuff. There are numerous bars and hotels within walking distance of Chesapeake Energy Arena that you can see if they’ll monitor your property. Most places charge a bag-holding fee since they have limited space to hold onto extra bags for fans. Consider getting to these places 1-2 hours before your event to try and get a spot for your bag before heading to the game.
