Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the National Football League venue of the Atlanta Falcons and Major League Soccer home of Atlanta United FC out at 1 AMB Dr. NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30313. The bag policy at Mercedes-Benz Stadium home is that fans can only bring clear bags that don’t exceed 12″ X 6″ X 12″. That means regular backpacks that are not see-through can’t enter the venue. Also, fans coming in for a football or soccer can bring a small bag under 4.5″ X 6.5″ as well.
Here is the full Mercedes-Benz Stadium bag policy breakdown for your next NFL game, MLS match, concert, or other events! I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.
Approved Bags
Consider purchasing a clear single-compartment bag ahead of time! Buying a clear single-compartment bag adheres to this and many stadium’s acceptable bag policy guidelines. Below are other types of bags that fans can bring into the venue.
- Any clear single-compartment bag that is no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″
- A Small purse that does not exceed 4.5″ X 6.5″
- Small clutch bag
- Medical bags
- ADA compliant bags
- Clear zip lock bags
My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience
When I go to football games and need to bring a bag, I always bring my clear fanny pack for a few reasons. First, the bag itself is clear, so it is an approved bag to enter venues. Second, the bag that I bring is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″, which is far below the max size that venues allow to enter. The size of this fanny pack is important because I’ve never had an issue getting this through any bag check at a stadium. Third, my fanny pack is not bulky, so I don’t mind wearing it across my chest as I walk around the stadium.
Below is a video of me going into more detail as to why I recommend this type of bag.
How Does Mercedes Benz Stadium Review Your Bag?
Guests arriving at the Falcons / United venue must go through a metal detector before scanning their tickets. If a fan has a bag with them, then they must go to the back check area at Gate 1 and Gate 2. From there, the security team will review the bag and check to ensure it and its items can enter the stadium.
What Items Can’t You Bring into Mercedes Benz Stadium?
Before heading to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for an NFL game, MLS match, or concert, consider examining the list of prohibited items. Below are more common objects that can’t enter the football stadium for any event. However, check out the official prohibited items page from Mercedes Benz Stadium to get the complete breakdown.
- Alcoholic beverages
- Animals that are not for ADA reasons
- Bags that don’t adhere to the clear bag policy
- Glassware
- Inflated balls
- Weapons of any kind
- Noisemakers
- Tripods
What Should You Do If Your Bag Is Too Big to Enter Mercedes Benz Stadium?
If you bring a bag that can’t enter Mercedes-Benz Stadium for any reason, there are mobile locker trucks on the premise that you can rent during a game. The mobile locker ruck opens about two hours before most events and stays open for about an hour or so after the event. However, spaces can fill up quickly, so plan to arrive early to the stadium if you feel your bag might be unable to enter the arena.
If the mobile lockers are sold out at the game or event you are going to, your next best option is to find a nearby hotel that can hold onto your stuff. With the stadium being in downtown Atlanta, you have numerous hotels within walking distance of the arena. Most hotels charge a small fee to watch your belongings if they have space in their storage closet.
