The bag policy for an Indianapolis Colts game or concert at Lucas Oil Stadium is that clear bags that don’t exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ can come into the arena with fans. Fans can also bring in small wallets, clutch bags, and wristlets that don’t exceed 4.5″ x 6″ as well. Finally, medical and diaper bags can also come into the arena with fans, even if they are not clear.

Lucas Oil Stadium, like other NFL venues, has a strict clear bag policy in place for all fans to adhere to. The only exception to the clear bag policy rule is if you need to bring in a medical bag, diaper bag, or a specific ADA bag. Below are the types of bags fans can bring into Lucas Oil Stadium for a game or event.

- A clear single-compartment tote bag no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″

My Clear Bag Recommendation + My Experience
I’ve been to plenty of football games with my clear fanny pack that measures 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″ in size. I’ve never had a problem getting this bag through the bag check for any venue. Also, what I like about this clear fanny pack is that it is not too bulky, which is important for me since I walk around venues with it as I document the food and drink choices at stadiums these days.

How Does the Lucas Oil Stadium Security Team Review Bags?
Fans coming to Lucas Oil Stadium for a football game or concert will go through a metal detector screening at the gate. Fans should prepare to take out keys, wallets, phones, and more during the metal detector check. Any fan with a bag with them will have it go through a security check to ensure they can enter the arena with fans.
What are the Prohibited Items that Fans Can’t Bring into Lucas Oil Stadium?
Fans heading to the Indy NFL venue for a Colts home game or another stadium event should know that certain items can’t come into the arena with them. - Non-compliant bags via the clear bag policy. Those bags include traditional backpacks, purses, coolers, laptop bags, duffle bags, and luggage bags
- Outside food or drinks. However, there is an exception to this rule if you need to bring in medical food or something similar to the arena.
- Weapons of any kind
- Fireworks
- Alcohol
- Horns
- Bells
- Glassware
- Noisemakers
- Selfie sticks
- Animals not for ADA purposes
Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area for Fans to Use at Lucas Oil Stadium?
There is no official locker storage unit at Lucas Oil Stadium for fans to use if they can’t bring their bag into the arena. If your bag can’t enter the NFL stadium, you must bring it back to your car and leave it there.
One tip is that if you plan on tailgating in the parking lots before a game, prepare to leave coolers and backpacks in a car afterward before walking to the stadium for the game. Traditional backpacks and coolers can’t enter the NFL stadium for matches or events. However, bringing these bags to the parking lots for tailgating before a Colts game is fine.
Finally, if you don’t have a car to leave your stuff in, see if a nearby hotel in downtown Indianapolis can watch your bag for you. Hotels, for the most part, charge a small bag-holding fee for this type of request. Assuming they have the space to hold onto an extra bag or two while you are at the game, you shouldn’t have any issue with that.
