Allianz Field Bag Policy

Allianz Field is the soccer home of the Major League Soccer team Minnesota United FC at 400 Snelling Ave N, St Paul, MN 55104. The bag policy at the MNUFC allows fans to bring in clear tote bags that don’t exceed the size of 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Along with letting clear tote bags into the venue, MNUFC allows fans to bring in small bags like small clutches, that doesn’t exceed the size of 5″ x 9″.

Approved Bags

As a reminder, Allianz Field has a clear bag policy for fans who want to bring a bag into the game. However, there are some exceptions to this bag policy rule. Here are the types of bags that can come into the venue on match day.

 

• A clear single-compartment bag that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
• A clear fanny pack
• Diaper Bags/Medical Bags. (As a note, there are no size restrictions for these types of bags. However, consider using a clear single-compartment bag that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ to not run into any issues at the gate)
• A one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag
• Small clutch bags/ small purses that don’t exceed the size of 5″ x 9″

 

My Clear Bag Recommendation

I try and only bring my clear fanny pack that is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″ into venues. I use the clear fanny pack because it is smaller than the recommended size, so there won’t be any issues. Also, it is a clear bag, so it fits with the clear bag policy. Below are some other reasons why I recommend bringing a clear fanny pack to the game.

 

• I have not had any issues bringing this bag to any stadium. Most of the time, security will look at this bag via a visual inspection and then hand it back to me. I’ve only been stopped a few times to ask what was in my microphone pouch.
• The bag is easy to wear across my body, so I don’t need to wear it like a traditional fanny pack.
• It is clear, which is essential. More and more venues are moving towards a clear bag policy. Therefore, I recommend investing in a clear bag since there is a good chance other venues you visit will require that.
• I like the two compartments the bag has. It allows me to put my keys and my phone in the front compartment pocket. All of my other stuff can go into the bigger compartment.
• Also, this bag is small enough that it doesn’t get in the way if I need to wear a coat over it for the game.

How Does the Allianz Field Security Team Review Bags?

Fans coming out to the soccer stadium in Saint Paul will go through a metal detector screening process before scanning their ticket to enter the stadium. The metal detector screening is relatively quick, and the security team will let you know if you need to take your phone or keys out of your pocket before walking through the detector. Fans with a bag will undergo an additional screening process, which takes longer than fans without a bag.

 

What are the Prohibited Items that Can’t Allianz Field?

A great fan experience at Allianz Field is important to the staff, so they have certain items that can’t come into the arena. Prohibiting certain things from entering the venue keeps fans safe and does not interfere with the game’s enjoyment. Below are some of those items that can’t enter the soccer stadium. Be sure to visit the official prohibited items list from mnufc.com to get the most up-to-date information.

 

• Non-clear bags (Exceptions can occur for medical/diaper bags. The type of bags that can’t enter the venue include backpacks, clear backpacks, oversized tote bags, mesh bags, camera bags, fanny packs, and seat cushions)
• Bags that exceed the size of 12″ x 6″ x 12″ (Exceptions can occur for medical/diaper bags.)
• Aerosol cans
• Balloons
• Tripods
• Glass bottles
• Fireworks
• Outside food and drinks
• Coolers
• Selfie sticks
• Weapons of any kind

 

Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area at or Around Allianz Field?

If your bag can’t come into Allianz Field, rent a locker for $10 at the Walker’s Tent outside the venue. This bag check area is at the Northwest Entry outside the venue. Lockers come on a first come and first served basis, so plan to arrive early to the game if you need to purchase a locker to store your bag in for the match. These lockers stay open for an hour after the final whistle.

 

If you tailgate at the State Fairgrounds parking lot and have items like coolers or similar bags with you, consider leaving them in your car before walking to the stadium for the event. Coolers and non-clear single-compartment bags can’t enter the venue, so plan to leave them in your vehicle after tailgating ends.
