Madison Square Garden (MSG) is the home to the New York Knicks NBA team and New York Rangers NHL team. Along with that, MSG plays hosts to the St. John’s Red Storm Basketball Team.  The arena’s address out in midtown Manhattan sits out on 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY 10001. In addition to sports games, you will find countless shows and performances at the world’s most famous arena year round. Essentially, there is always an event taking place at The Garden.

Here is the complete guide to MSG parking.

Official Parking around Madison Squar Garden

There are numerous parking garages that surround Madison Square Garden for fans to use. Visit the official parking page for MSG to get the most up to date information.

However, my personal recommendation regarding parking is to use the SpotHero listing below. The SpotHero listing will showcase the parking in an interactive map with the pricing for you to purchase.

My Recommendation on Parking + Experience with SpotHero

I have always taken the train to MSG since I come from upstate New York. Amtrak from Saratoga Springs goes directly into Penn Station, so I rarely drive in NYC.

However, when it comes to parking in cities when I travel, I always use SpotHero. SpotHero is an easy-to-use website (and app) that allows you to see the parking rates in and around your location. From my experience, I save about 30% on parking using this service because I can see the parking rates on the map and compare it to the parking garages next to my destination. I’m willing to walk a block or two from a venue if I can save a lot of money on parking, which is the case for using this service around MSG.

If you want to save money or parking, consider reviewing the SpotHero options above. Especially in NYC, you have so many parking garages all within blocks of MSG, so you can find ways to save money using this service.

How to Book Parking on SpotHero Video

Here is a video of me going over how easy it is to book parking on SpotHero. In this video, I share how to search, how to book parking, and how to get the parking pass for your event on your phone. The whole process is a breeze, and it really only takes 1-2 minutes of your time.

Madison Square Garden Handicap Parking Spots

There are plenty of ADA parking spaces in garages near the venue for fans to use. Each parking garage around the stadium has accessible parking spaces, but lots may fill up quickly. It’s best to use SpotHero above to secure a handicap parking space before driving to the venue.

Can you Tailgate in the Parking Lots?

There is no tailgating at the venue’s parking lots, but there are plenty of bars to visit near the arena. Some of the closest bars and  restaurants include Tir na Nog, Panda Express, Molly Wee, Local NYC, and Tracks. Also, it is worth noting that you between 7th avenue, 8th avenue, and are a short walk to Broadway, so you will find plenty of places to grab food and drinks before a match.

Also, be sure to visit the Madison Square Garden Bag Policy page to see what you can and can’t bring into the venue. Also, feel free to visit the Madison Square Garden Food page to see what you can eat at the venue.

Is there Street Parking Near the Garden?

Fans looking for street parking for a weekday game can look for 35th, 36th, 37th, and 38th street. Street parking comes at a first come and first serve basis, so plan ahead. However, be sure to read the street signs to ensure that you are able to leave your vehicle in that area so you don’t get towed.

Should I Take Public Transportation?

Fans can take many New York City subway lines to Penn Station. Some NYC subway lines include the 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, D, F, N Q, and R. There are also plenty of bus routes that bring fans directly to MSG.

Fans can also take AMTRAK from Boston, Connecticut, and upstate New York to get to MSG. The Metro North line above the city brings you right into Grand Central Station, which means you can then take a short subway ride to MSG.

Taking a Blue Bike to and from the venue is another popular public transportation option. Finally, fans can use Uber and Lyft to get to and from the venue.
