UBS Arena Bag Policy

UBS Arena is the National Hockey League venue for the New York Islanders out at 2400 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont, NY 11003. The bag policy at the NHL arena is single-compartment bags that don’t exceed 12″ x 12″ x 6″ can enter for a game or concert. That includes small medical bags, baby bags, ADA bags, purses, and more can enter. However, backpacks can’t enter the arena even if they are smaller than the bag policy size.

Here is the full breakdown of the UBS Arena bag policy. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

Approved Bags

Below are the different type of bags you can bring into the venue.

  • Small purse
  • Medical bags
  • Fanny packs
  • ADA compliant bags
  • Diaper bags
  • Any clear single-compartment bag that is no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience

The Bag I Recommend

While I have not been to UBS Arena for a game, I have had friends who have. They’ve told me that bringing a clear fanny pack to the game had no issues getting into the venue. They said as long as the fanny pack is not large and is clear, you will be all set to bring that into the venue.

That statement lines up with what I bring to venues these days. My clear fanny pack is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″, so it is much smaller than the max size limit at UBS Arena. Also, I have never had a problem getting this fanny pack through a bag check, which means I’m confident it won’t be a problem at UBS Arena.

Below is a video of me explaining why I also recommend bringing a clear fanny pack to games.

Consider purchasing a small single-compartment bag!

During the inspection, the security team will inspect the bag’s content and ensure it is not too big to enter the venue.

Fans coming to UBS Arena for a hockey game or event should familiarize themselves with the list of prohibited items. Below are some common things the stadium security will turn away directly at the gate during their check. Visit the UBS Arena banned items list for the most up-to-date information.

  • Weapons
  • Backpacks
  • Bags that exceed 12″ x 12″ x 6″
  • Laser pointers
  • Flashlights
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Fireworks
  • Any animal that is not for ADA reasons
  • Outside food or beverages (As a note, there are exceptions to this rule. Some exceptions are for medical reasons and or if you have little kids who need specific snacks or drinks)

What Should You Do If Your Bag Is Too Big to Enter UBS Arena?

If your bag is too big to enter the arena, you can bring it to the bag check area at the Great Hall. However, space does come on a first-come and first-served basis, so read the bag policy guidelines to see what bags can’t enter the venue and not have to deal with that. Using the Great Hall to store your bag works best if you take public transportation to the UBS Arena straight from work and need somewhere to put your backpack.

If you drive to the venue and can’t bring your bag into the arena, you can always bring it back to your car in the parking lot. From there, you can head back in line to enter the stadium without your bag.
