PNC Arena is the National Hockey League home of the Carolina Hurricanes at 1400 Edwards Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607. The bag policy at the hockey stadium is that fans can bring in small clear single-compartment bags that don’t exceed 6.5″ x 4.5″. There are exceptions to the clear single-compartment bag policy, like if a fan needs to bring in a medical bag larger than this size and not clear. However, traditional backpacks can’t go in with the fan on gameday or other events.

How Does the PNC Arena Staff Review Your Bag?
Upon scanning your game or event ticket at the entrance gate, all spectators will go through a security check via the metal detectors. The security team will inspect any fan with a bag with them individually. The inspection includes a metal detector scan and a personal check to ensure the bag and the items inside can enter the facility. If your bag can come with you into the stadium, the security team will return it. If there are issues with your bag, however, you will need to leave it in your car before getting in line to enter the facility.
What Items Can’t You Bring into PNC Arena?
PNC Arena regularly updates its prohibited items list, so checking this official link for the most up-to-date information is best. Below are some items that fans can’t bring into the hockey venue for any game or event.
- Bags that exceed the size limit
- Outside food and beverages (However, the stadium security can make exceptions if you need to bring baby formula or something similar in your medical bag)
- Fireworks
- Laser pointers
- Aerosol Cans
- Animals that are not for ADA purposes
- Glassware
- Cigarettes / Vape pens
What Happens If Your Bag Is Too Big to Enter PNC Arena?
If you bring a bag that can’t enter the Carolina Hurricanes venue, you have two choices to decide what to do next. First, you can bring your bag back to your car and leave it there before getting back in line. Leaving your bag in your vehicle is the best option for fans who drive to the venue and have their vehicle in a nearby parking space.
Fans who take public transportation to PNC Arena won’t have a car to leave their belongings in, so they will need to see if a nearby bar or hotel can watch their stuff. There are hotels south of the hockey venue that you can venture off to see if they will hold onto your things while you are at the game. Most hotels charge a small fee to hold onto your belongings in their storage closet directly behind the front desk.
