Oracle Park Bag Policy

Oracle Park is the Major League Baseball home of the San Francisco Giants at 24 Willie Mays Plaza, San Francisco, California 94107. The bag policy at the ballpark is that fanny packs, tote bags, purses, medical bags, clear single-compartment bags, and soft-sided coolers can enter the stadium. However, fans cannot bring backpacks, even clear ones, into the stadium or anything larger than 16″ x 16″ x 8″.

Here is the complete bag policy guide for the San Francisco Giants baseball team. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

Approved Bags

Below are some acceptable bags that fans can bring into Oracle Park on gameday. As a reminder, you can’t bring a bag into the venue bigger than 16″ x 16″ x 8″

  • Tote bags
  • Fanny packs
  • Small handbags
  • Small purses
  • Medical bags (they can be in a backpack style)
  • Soft-sided coolers
  • Clear plastic bag
  • A clear fanny pack
  • Diaper Bag

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience

I’ve been to many MLB venues that all have a similar bag policy in place. From my experience, I’ve never had an issue getting my clear fanny pack through the bag check. My clear fanny pack measures 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″, which makes it smaller than what Oracle Park allows. So far, I’ve never had an issue getting this type of bag through any bag check at a stadium.

Below is a video of me going into more detail on why I recommend this bag.

Consider purchasing a clear drawstring or tote bag that does not exceed 16″ x 16″ x 8″ before your next visit.

There are metal detectors that fans must go through before having their ticket scanned by the security staff. Fans with a bag must have those reviewed by the security team separately to ensure they follow their MLB bag policy guide.

Fans coming to Oracle Park should review the list of prohibited items from mlb.com before coming to the venue. You don’t want to bring something you can’t bring inside to the game due to the team’s policy. Here are some of the most common prohibited items to be aware of when coming to the San Francisco Bay venue for a baseball game.

  • Any bag that is larger than 16″ x 16″ x 8″
  • Aerosol cans
  • Glassware
  • Backpacks (including clear backpacks)
  • Weapons
  • Noisemakers
  • Drones
  • Beach Balls

What Should You Do If Your Bag Is Too Big to Enter the Giants Venue?

If you bring a backpack (or bag too large to enter the stadium), you have two options on where to leave them before entering the venue for a game. First, you can bring your bag and items to your car and leave them there. Leaving them in your vehicle is the best, cheapest, and safest option to secure your belongings properly.

However, if you took public transportation to the game and can’t leave your bag in a car, your next best option is to go to a nearby hotel and see if they will hold onto it. Most hotels charge a small fee to hold onto the belongings of people while they are at a game in their storage closest. However, these hotels have limited space to do just that, so it might become a first-come and first-served basis.
