Hodgetown Bag Policy

Hodgetown is home to the Amarillo Sod Poodles Double-A Minor League Baseball team for the Arizona Diamondbacks MLB team. The ballpark has a bag policy that allows fans to bring a single-compartment clear bag into the venue that does not exceed 12″ x 12″ x 6″ in size. That means non-clear bags like backpacks, totes, fanny packs, and laptop bags can’t come into the venue with fans for a baseball game.

Here is the complete Hodgetown bag policy guide for your next Amarillo Sod Poodle game. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

Approved Bags

Hodgetown, like most other MiLB ballparks, only permits fans to bring clear bags inside the stadium. Below are the different types of bags fans can bring into the stadium.

  • A clear single-compartment bag that does not exceed 6″ x 12″ x 12″
  • Medical bags
  • Small clutch purses and wristlets the size of your hand.
  • ADA-specific bags

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience

My Clear Bag Recommendation

I’ve been to venues that have the same bag policy as Hodgetown. From my experience, you won’t have a problem getting a clear fanny pack into the venue. My clear fanny pack that I bring into stadiums is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″ in size. Just make sure that you don’t have any prohibited items inside the bag.

Below is my video recommending what clear bag to bring into stadiums.

How Does the Hodgetown Security Team Review Bags?

Fans arriving at Hodgetown for a baseball game will undergo a metal detector screening before scanning their ticket for entry. Fans with a bag will have that go through an additional inspection by the security team. The bag check ensures the bag is clear and does not contain any prohibited items inside it. Assuming there are no problems with your bag or items inside of it, you will get it back to enter the stadium for your game.

What are the Prohibited Items that Fans Can’t Bring into Hodgetown?

Fans planning their next trip to the Amarillo Sod Poodles ballpark should be aware that certain things can’t come into the stadium with them. Some of the prohibited items are below. Be sure to visit the team’s rules book for the most up-to-date information on prohibited items.

  • Clear bags that exceed 6″ x 12″ x 12″
  • Non-clear bags for personal use. For instance, backpacks, fanny packs, laptop bags, cinch bags, computer bags, binocular bags, duffle bags, hard-sided coolers, etc., can’t come inside the venue
  • Laser pointers
  • Cans
  • Glassware
  • Outside food and drinks
  • Drugs
  • Weapons of any kind

Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area for Fans at Hodgetown?

There is no on-site locker storage at Hodgetown for fans to use if they can’t bring their bag into the ballpark. If you have a bag with you that is not clear, plan on leaving that in your car before heading to the entrance. Otherwise, the security staff will not allow you to bring that into the venue.

If you don’t have a car to leave your bag at, see if a nearby bar or hotel near the venue can watch it for you. The nearest hotel to the stadium is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Amarillo Downtown, one block away. If a bar or hotel can watch your bag for you, they tend to charge a small bag-holding fee for that type of service.

Parking and Food Information for am Amarillo Sod Poodles Baseball Game

Multiple parking lots are near the stadium to park for a game. Parking rates hover around the $7 mark and operate on a first-come and first-served basis.

Fans can’t bring outside food or drinks into the ballpark for a game. Therefore, if you want to eat during the game, you’ll need to get something from the concession stands. Visit the Hodgetown Food Guide to see what the concession stands have to offer.
