Gillette Stadium is home to the New England Patriots NFL and New England Revolution MLS teams at 1 Patriot Pl, Foxborough, MA 02035. The bag policy at the venue is a single-compartment clear bag no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″ can enter with the fan. Along with a clear single-compartment bag, fans can bring in non-clear items, like a small wallet, that does not exceed 6.5″ x 4.5″.

My Clear Bag Recommendation + My Experience

I went to Gillette Stadium for a New England Revolution match in 2023. While I didn’t bring my clear fanny pack that is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″ to the game, I did see others bring that type of bag to the stadium and had no problems getting that through the gate. If I was to go back to Gillette Stadium for a game or concert and needed a bag, I would bring my fanny pack to the game. Below are the reasons why I recommend bringing a clear fanny pack the stadium.

 

• I have not had any issues bringing this bag to any stadium. Most of the time, security will look at this bag via a visual inspection and then hand it back to me. I’ve only been stopped a few times to ask what was in my microphone pouch.

 

• The bag itself is not too bulky

 

• It is clear, which is essential. More and more venues are moving towards a clear bag policy. Therefore, I recommend investing in a clear bag since there is a good chance other venues you visit will require that.

 

• I like the two compartments the bag has. It allows me to put my keys and my phone in the front compartment pocket. All of my other stuff can go into the bigger compartment.

 

• Also, this bag is small enough that it doesn’t get in the way if I need to wear a coat over it for the game.

How Does Gillette Stadium Review Your Bag?

Fans attending a Patriots or Revs game will go through a metal detector before scanning their ticket. If a fan has a bag with them, they will go into a separate line to have the stadium security staff inspect it. The inspection includes a review of the outside and inside of the bag, along with checking that the items in the bag can enter the stadium. Assuming there are no issues with your bag or items, the security staff member will return your bag, and you can scan your ticket and enter the arena for your game or concert.

 

My Experience with the Bag Check Process

I went to Gillette Stadium for a New England Revolution game in September 20223. There are two different lines at Gillette Stadium for fans with bags and fans without bags. I didn’t bring in a bag, so my security inspection was incredibly quick at the gate since there was not any bag inspection.

 

However, I did not notice there were fans in the other line who had a clear bag with them who didn’t have any issues going through security. As long as your bag is small and clear, you won’t have a problem. Also, there are multiple signs outside Gillette Stadium as you enter the venue reminding you to only have a clear bag before you get to the entrance. The total process for the clear bag check was about 20 seconds per bag, so it didn’t take too much time.

 

My recommendation is to leave any non-clear bag in your car before heading to the venue. Especially if you want to partake in tailgating before a game, plan on leaving traditional backpacks in your car. A backpack is fine to bring for tailgating, but the security staff won’t allow it to enter the stadium. There are numerous signs all outside the venue telling you what bags can enter the arena.

 

What Items Can’t You Bring into the Stadium?

Fans coming to the Patriots venue for a game or concert should be familiar with the prohibited items list that can’t enter the facility. Some of those items that can’t come into the venue are below. However, feel free to check out the official guide of Gillette Stadium to learn more.

• Bags that exceed 12″ x 12″ x 6″

• Strollers
• Noisemakers
• Fireworks
• Laser Pointers
• Outside food and beverages (As a note, there are exceptions to this rule if you need to bring in something for medical reasons)
• Alcoholic drinks

 

What Should You Do If Your Bag Is Too Big to Enter?

If your bag is too big to enter Gillette Stadium, you can bring it back to your car and leave it there before getting back in line for your event. Leaving your bag in your vehicle is the best option since it costs you nothing extra, and you know your bag will be safe.

 

If you took public transportation to Gillette and didn’t have a car to put your stuff in, you can see if a nearby hotel would watch your property. Most hotels charge a minimal fee to protect your belongings while you are at the venue. As a note, space can fill up quickly at a hotel, so plan to arrive early to Gillette just in case you need to have a hotel watch your belongings.
