Children's Mercy Park Bag Policy

Children’s Mercy Park, at One Sporting Way, Kansas City, KS 66111, is home to the MLS team Sporting Kansas City and the NWSL team, Kansas City Current. The bag policy at the soccer stadium allows fans to bring clear bags as long as they are no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″. Also, small purses and similar types of bags that are not clear can also enter the facility, but they can’t be bigger than 4.5″ x 6.5″.

Here is the Children’s Mercy Park bag policy guide for your next MLS/NWSL match. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

Approved Bags

While Children’s Mercy Park only allows clear bags to enter the stadium, they make exceptions for small types of bags that are not clear. Below are the bags that can enter the facility for a match.

  • A clear-single compartment bag that does not exceed 12″ x 12″ x 6″
  • A clear fanny pack
  • Small diaper bags/medical bags. The rule here is that if they are not see-through, they need to be no bigger than 4.5″ x 6.5″
  • A clear tote bag
  • Small clutch bags

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience

The Bag I Recommend

While I have not been to Children’s Mercy Park, I’ve had quite a few community members from this site who have. Each has told me that the security team only allows clear bags to enter the venue. From my experience, I’ve never had an issue getting my clear fanny pack into any stadium. My clear fanny pack is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″, which means it is much smaller than the max size that venues permit.

Below is a video of me going into more detail about this type of bag.

Fans coming to Kansas City for a Major League Soccer game will go through a metal detector at the stadium entrance before entering the facility. Fans with a bag will go through an additional security check via their bag. The security screening of the bag will review its size of it along with its content. As long as your bag is clear and is no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″, you won’t have a problem bringing it into the stadium. However, if the bag contains prohibited items, those won’t be allowed inside the arena.

If your bag is not allowed inside the soccer stadium on matchday, you must bring it back to your car and leave it there. After that, you can get back in line to get into the venue via another metal detector screening. To avoid missing kickoff, you should read the bag policy and prohibited items list beforehand to avoid any issues during the bag check at the entrances.

If you took public transportation to the game and didn’t have a car to leave your stuff in, see if a nearby hotel can watch your property. Multiple hotels within short walking distance of the Kansas City soccer stadium charge a small fee to hold onto bags while you are at the game. However, please note that these hotels are not affiliated with either soccer team, so if you leave your stuff there, the team has no control over any damaged or lost items.
