Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Bag Policy

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is home to the University of Florida Gators college football team. There is a clear bag policy in place at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium that permits fans to bring in one clear bag (tote bag, vinyl, PVC, plastic, etc.) that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ in size. Fans can also bring in a small clutch purse that does not exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″ in size in addition to the clear bag.

Here is the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium bag policy guide for your next Florida Gators college football game. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game.

Approved Bags

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, like other college football venues, has a strict clear bag policy. However, there are minor exceptions to the rule. Below are the bags fans can bring into the stadium for a college football match.

  • A clear plastic tote, plastic, PVC, or vinyl bag no bigger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″
  • Small clutch bags that don’t exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″
  • One clear gallon-size plastic storage bag
  • ADA-type bags. Put whatever you need into a clear bag if possible. Otherwise, this may result in a longer bag check at the gate.
  • A seat cushion no larger than 16″ x 16″ and has no zippers, pockets, or back to it

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience

The Bag I Recommend

When I need to bring a bag to a college football venue, I bring my clear fanny pack for a few reasons. First, the bag itself is clear, so it checks off that box for being a clear bag. Second, the size of my fanny pack is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″, which makes it much smaller than what stadiums allow. The size of the bag generally allows a very quick bag inspection at the gate since it is small. Third, the fanny pack itself is not bulky, so it is not uncomfortable to wear at a game.

Below is a video of me explaining what I tend to put into my fanny pack for games.

How Does the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Security Team Review Bags?

How Does the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Security Team Review Bags

Fans arriving at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for a game will undergo a metal detector screening before entering the venue. Fans with a bag will have that go through an individual inspection at the entrance. The bag inspection may require you to remove certain things from the bag to help the security team review everything. If any issues arise from the examination, you will be asked to bring them back to your car and return in line without the bag.

Fans planning their next trip to the Florida Gators college football venue should know that certain things can’t come in with them for a game. Be sure to visit the team’s official prohibited items list page to get the most up-to-date information on the things that can’t enter the stadium with fans.

Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium?

There is no official bag check or locker storage area outside the football venue to leave your bag if it can’t come into the stadium. Therefore, if your bag (or items inside it) can’t go into the venue with you, you must bring them back to your car and leave them inside. From there, you can get back in line without your bag to enter the stadium.

One tip is that if you plan on tailgating before a game, leave those bags in your car before walking to the stadium’s entrance. The security staff won’t allow traditional backpacks, coolers, or similar bags inside the venue. However, those bags and coolers are perfectly fine to bring to tailgating in the parking lots.
