My Recommendation on Citi Field Food
I’ve been to Citi Field numerous times. The best food and drinks are out in the center field area at the stadium. The center field area is a great space to eat your food since there are high top tables. My personal favorite place is the Shake Shack in the center field area. I prefer Shake Shack because the food prices at the venue are very expensive and I feel you get the most food for what you spend at that concession stand.
Can you Bring Outside Food into Citi Field?
According to the official security policy page at Citi Field, fans can bring in one security sealed water bottle into the stadium. Also, check out the Citi Field Bag Policy to see what you can and can’t bring into the venue.
Can you Smoke in the Facility?
There is no smoking in the seating area at Citi Field.
Popular Matches Against the New York Mets
The New York Mets are one of the most popular Major League Baseball clubs in the game. If you are visiting Citi Field for the first time and want an authentic experience, consider going to a game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, or New York Yankees. These four matchups, in particular, happen every year and bring the most energy, so try and go to one of these games if possible.
If you are looking for cheaper tickets to watch the New York Mets, consider going to a weekday game. Weekday games tend to be cheaper than Friday night and weekend competitions. In addition to that, seeing the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates, or Milwaukee Brewers tend to be less popular matches on the calendar.
Popular Matches Against the NYCFC
NYCFC has become one of the better squads in the Eastern Conference division in MLS. Expect larger crowds to come to Citi Field when they play against the Philadelphia Union and New York Red Bulls. Other games that tend to draw a decent size crowd include New England Revolution, CF Montreal, and Toronto FC.

What is the Average Seating Capacity at Citi Field?
In 2023, the Mets are hovering around the top half of the league in attendance. Citi Field tends to average over 30k fans per game.
Meanwhile, when NYCFC plays there, you can expect around 20k fans to show up for a match.
Conclusion: Citi Field Food
Catching a New York Mets game should be on the top of the list for every baseball fan. The New York Mets have a fierce and loyal fan group that shows up each and every night to cheer on their team, so watching a game will feel electric at the venue. In addition to that, Citi Field is a relatively new ballpark, so the comfort of watching the Mets is much better than what is what back when the team played at Shea Stadium.
Citi Field has some of the best food choices for fans to take advantage of when catching a Mets game. You will find many food courts around the stadium in the promenade level along with the field level concourse. Whether you are looking for vegan options, soft pretzels, hot dogs or more, you will find plenty of food options to satisfy any experience.
