TD Garden Bag Policy: My Bag Recommendation

TD Garden is home to the Boston Bruins NHL team and Boston Celtics NBA team at 100 Legends Way, Boston, MA 02114. The bag policy at TD Garden, as of February 2024, states that fans can only bring in a bag that is 6″ x 4″ x 1.5″ (or smaller) into the venue. These bags do not need to be clear, but the previous bag policy is no longer allowed. The previous bag policy, prior to February 2024, allowed bags that were 14″ x 14″ x6″ in size.

Below are the types of bags you can bring into the venue. As a note, medical bags and diaper bags can exceed the size limit of 6″ x 4″ x” 1.5. Just expect to have those bags searched manually and by a metal detector screening device.

My Clear Bag Recommendation+ My Experience

I had a much better bag experience at TD Garden prior to the rule change in February 2024. Prior to the bag size change, I would bring a clear fanny pack to the venue without any issues. I was stopped one time to take out my microphone out of the bag to show the security staff what it was. However, the bag itself and the items inside of it went through a quick metal detector screening. As of February 2024, you won’t be able to bring this type of bag into the venue.

How Does TD Garden Review Your Bag?

Fans coming to TD Garden for any event must go through a metal detector. If they have a bag, the security staff will also review it at their table. The security check ensures the bag fits within its size requirements and that the content inside the bag won’t trigger the prohibited items list. If there are any issues with your bag or its contents, they won’t be able to go into the venue with you.

 

As a note, TD Garden only allows bags that are 4″ x 6″ x 1.5″ in size to enter the venue. 

 

What Items Can’t You Bring into TD Garden?

Fans coming to TD Garden for any event must be aware that there are prohibited items that TD Garden staff won’t allow inside the arena. Some of those items are listed below. If you are coming to a game or event at the arena, take a few minutes to check out the prohibited items list from tdgarden.com for the most up-to-date information.

 

• Outside food
• Outside drinks
• Vape pens
• Weapons of any kind
• Tripods
• Large flags and banners
• Laser pointers
• Drones
• Backpacks
• Any bags that exceed the size limit of 14″ x 14″ x 6″

 

What Should You Do If Your Bag Is Too Big to Enter the TD Garden?

If your bag is too big to enter TD Garden, there is a locker that you can pay $15 for to store your bag at. The Mobile Locker is at Legends Way. Fans can use this locker two hours prior to their event and it stays open 1.5 hours after the even concludes.

 

If you want to save money on the mobile locker, head about two blocks from TD Garden to see if a bar or hotel can watch it of you. I’ve had success at many stadiums choosing to leave my bag at a hotel since it tends to have a smaller bag fee than the mobile lockers directly at the stadium’s location.

 

If you drove to TD Garden for the game or event, you can then leave those belongings in your car before getting back in the line to enter the stadium.
