When did Progressive Field Open?
Progressive Field (formerly known as Jacobs Field) opened up on April 2, 1994. The naming rights of the field belong to the car insurance company, Progressive Insurance. The new park replaced Cleveland Stadium and is known as one of the best MLB ballparks in the game. Progressive Field will be hosting the 2019 All Star Game and Home Run Derby. Here is my review of Progressive Field along with my video experience of a game in 2019.
What Time do the Gates Open at Progressive Field?
What time is batting practice at Jacobs Field is a common question fans ask. If the game starts at 12:10, the Indians open their doors only 1 hour before the first pitch which makes catching batting practice impossible. If the park is starting at a normal hour, you can expect the venue to open two hours before first pitch.

Notable Features
In 1997, the Jake (Progressive Field) hosted the Major League All-Star Game. The MVP of that game was Sandy Alomar JR, and the American League won 3-1 in that game. The Indians had some good representation on the roster for that game including David Justice, Sandy Olomar Jr, and Jim Thome.
The pedestrian bridge out in the right field new to the ballpark. With the removal of seats in upper deck right field, the Cleveland Indians turned their right field area into a standing room section. The Kids Clubhouse is on the second upper deck level out in right field, so that is a good spot for families. This design was something that the Colorado Rockies (Coors Field) did in the right field to reduce seats and bring in a better experience for the fans.
One great feature of the stadium is the Corner in right field. Here you will find amazing craft beer like Great Lakes Brewing and countless drink rails to stand and watch the game. At each foul pole at the stadium, you will find drink rails for fans to watch the game from. If you are looking for the Progressive Food Guide, you should check out that link.
Fans should also take in Heritage Park out in center field to look at the team’s history. Finally, fans like the Corner out in right field that is a two level floor with lots of food and drinks for fans to enjoy.
