SAP Center (formerly known as San Jose Arena) is home to the NHL San Jose Sharks and AHL San Jose Barracuda teams. The arena’s address out in the bay area sits at 525 W Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113. In addition to hockey games, you can find many concerts at the arena year round.

 

Here are the parking tips for going to a game at SAP Center.

 

Official Parking around SAP Center

 

According to the official parking page of SAP Center, there are over 3k parking spaces to use within walking distance of the arena. The largest parking area is directly next to the arena, which has 1,500 parking spots. Fans can reserve parking and purchase prepaid parking with that link. As a note, parking rates will vary depending on the event that you are seeing.

 

My Recommendation on Parking + Experience with SpotHero

I recommend SpotHero whenever it comes to parking near an arena. From my experience, I’ve gotten better deals parking about 10-15 minutes outside a venue compared to what is being offered directly next to a venue. It comes down to a personal preference, but I’d rather save money on parking and use that difference to pick up food and drinks at the venue. Plus, I like to park further away from an arena because getting to and leaving an arena is less congested. For example, I parked once at Red Bull Arena (MLS venue) and sat in traffic for about thirty minutes since I couldn’t move due to everyone crossing the street from my parking lot. That is why I opt for parking further from a venue these days.

 

SAP Center Handicap Parking Spots

There are ADA parking spaces available for fans to use at both parking lot entrances at the stadium. Guests will need to show a valid handicap parking pass along with valid placard to park in these spaces. Parking attendants can help direct you to where you should park if there are any questions. Can you Tailgate in the Parking Lots?

There is no tailgating in the parking lots at the venue, but there are plenty of bars around to visit before a game. Some bars include Patty’s Inn, Firehouse Number 1, and Britannia Arms. Finally, fans also like to visit SP2 Communal Bar and Restaurant, O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub, and Rookies Sports Lodge before and after a hockey game.

Should I Take Public Transportation?

One popular way fans get to and from the arena is by bicycle. In addition to cycling, you can also use the VTA Light Rail to get to and from the game as another public transportation option. The nearest light rail station is at Diridon Station and on San Fernando Street at Delmas Avenue. Finally, fans also use Uber and Lyft to get to and from the arena.
