PPG Paints Arena is home to the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Duquesne Dukes NCAA basketball team also has games at this venue too. The arena’s address sits at 1001 fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. In addition to hockey and basketball games, you will find plenty of concerts and events at this arena year round.

Here are the parking tips for the venue!

Official Parking around PPG Paints Arena

The Jim Shorkey Auto Group Parking Garage sits directly next to PPG Paints Arena. If you want to park directly to the venue, you should consider going to this garage. The parking rates for this garage will vary depending on the event you are seeing. Be sure to visit the PPG Paints Arena Parking Map to see where the other parking lot (Jim Shorkey) options are.

My Recommendation on Parking + Experience with SpotHero

I always recommend friends and community members visit SpotHero if they need to park near a venue. From my experience, I tend to save around 30% on parking since I use this service. The parking options, for the most part, are about a 10-minute walk to the arena, but the savings make up that difference. If you don’t need to park directly at the stadium, definitely consider parking in an unofficial parking garage. You can take the cost-savings from what you save on parking and put that to the food and drinks inside the arena.

Handicap Parking Spots

Handicap parking spaces are in the East Lot, North Lot, South Lot and West Lot at the venue. ADA parking comes on a first-come basis, so it’s best to arrive early events. Fans will need to present a valid parking pass and placard to keep their car in the handicap spaces too. Finally, fans can take advantage of the pick-up and drop-off areas on fifth ave near the venue.

Can you Tailgate in the Parking Lots?

Tailgating takes place in the parking lots at the venue before all Penguins hockey games. Fans can only tailgate in front of your vehicle and can’t have open flames in the parking lots. In addition to tailgating in the parking lots, you can venture out to the local bars before or after a game. Some local bars include Shale’s Cafe, Bufford’s Kitchen, Terrance on Fifth, and The Red Ring Bar and Grille.

Should I Take Public Transportation?

Port Authority of Allegheny County provides ways for fans to get to and from the arena via public transportation. Multiple bus routes run through the town and drop fans off a short walk to the venue. Outside of the bus, fans can use a rideshare program like Uber or Lyft to get to the site. The Uber Zone is on Wylie Ave and is between Crawford St and Fullerton St.
