Citi Field Parking

Citi Field Parking Tips

Parking at Citi Field New York Mets Tips

Citi Field is the home of the MLB New York Mets sitting at 123-01 Roosevelt Ave, New York City 11368. The new Mets home was built right next to Shea Stadium, so Mets fans will be familiar with the parking situation for a regular season Mets home game. Most parking for a Mets game is in the space where Shea Stadium was, but there are few other lots for fans to consider. Here is the guide to Mets Parking at Citi Field.

Here is my review of Citi Field along with my review of Shea Stadium.

Is there Handicap Parking at Citi Field?

There is handicap parking and accessible parking spaces at the ballpark. Lots A, B, and F all offer the ability for fans to park at the handicap designated areas. If there are any questions, you can find the parking attendants in each of these lots to help direct you to a handicap section.

Is there Tailgating at Citi Field?

Mets fans can tailgate at Citi Field parking lots before the first pitch of the baseball game. You will find security guards walking around the stadium, so dangerous behavior will have surveillance. Fans can’t have open flames for grilling in their parking spot, but can have food and drinks before the game without a problem.

How Much is General Parking?

The further you park away, the less the cost to park will be. Parking near Citi Field and the Jackie Robinson entrance will cost you about $25 for a space. Fans can choose to park a bit further away and pay around $15 for a space, but parking rates will remain similar. The cheapest parking can be found at the Southfield Commuter Lot with tickets varying on the time of day and match up. You can use cash or a credit card to park at the parking spaces around the ballpark.

During the summer, the Mets offer $5 commuter rate parking at Citi Field on weekday games. The entrance for this weekday is on Roosevelt Avenue between 126th Street and Shea Road. Fans should come a few hours prior to the game to lock in the 5.00 rate for the parking.

Season ticket holders can take advantage of preferred parking at Citi Field. The preferred lots are C, D, and F for fans to take advantage of. Season ticket holders can save money by buying multiple games to park their car for baseball games.

Is there Prepaid Parking Passes?

Fans can take advantage of buying prepaid parking passes to ensure a spot before game day. Clicking on this link will bring you to the Mets Official Website to purchase this option. Buying prepaid parking passes is a smart idea when key match ups take place like when the New York Yankees or Los Angeles Dodgers visit. Same goes with special events and night games where those generally have more interest than a weekday game.

Should I Take Public Transportation?

There are many options to consider when thinking of public transportation to a Mets game. From Queens, Citi Field is served by the Q48 Bus. There are many bus routes that connect to the 7 train which brings you to Mets-Willets Point, so it’s best to see if your line connects. Some lines include the Q18, Q23, Q29, Q39, Q45, and more.

Fans coming from Long Island can connect to the 7 train on the Flushing / Main Street from the Long Island Bus Lines. The bus lines coming from Long Island include the N7, N20, N21, and more. Mets Fans can also take the Long Island RailRoad (LIRR) which is available from Penn Station and Woodside.

Fans coming from the Metro North can take the 7 train from Grand Central Station. Fans coming from the Port Authority can also connect to the 7 train as well. Pretty much any train you take in NYC, you should look to connect to the 7 train to get to a Mets game.

Popular Match Ups and Events

Certain teams draw large crowds when visiting the ballpark out in the ballpark in Queens. Baseball games against the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, and Chicago Cubs have the most interest. Games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Indians, Miami Marlins, and Tampa Bay Rays generally have less interest.
