Toyota Center is home to the Houston Rockets NBA team at 1510 Polk St, Houston, Texas 77002. The Toyota Center bag policy allows fans to bring in single-compartment bags that don’t exceed 14″ x 14″ x 6″ into the venue. Fans who bring in bags smaller than 5″ x 8.5″ will go through an expedited bag inspection at the gate. Also, while there is no clear bag policy rule for 2023, the stadium security staff encourages fans to bring those bags to help expedite the bag check process at the gate.
Here is the complete Toyota Center bag policy for your next event. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.
Approved Bags
While fans can bring non-clear bags into Toyota Center, more and more places are adopting the clear bag policy rule each year. Therefore, a clear bag not only gets you into more NBA venues but also expediates your review of your bag at the gate, which means you get into the arena faster. Below are the bags that can come into Toyota Center with fans.
- A single-compartment bag that does not exceed 14″ x 14″ x 6″
- A clear one-gallon ziplock bag
- Any ADA-specific bag
- Medical bags and Diaper bags
- A clear fanny pack
- Small clutches and similar types of bags
My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience
I like to bring my clear fanny pack to venues for a few reasons.
- The bag is clear, which makes the review process quick at the gate by the security team
- My clear fanny pack is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″ so it is below the size limit
- The bag itself has two compartments, which I prefer since I put my recording equipment into a different compartment
- I find that the clear fanny pack isn’t bulky, which is importance since I will be wearing it as I walk around the venue
Below is a video of me going into more detail about this type of bag

How Does the Toyota Center Security Team Review Bags?
Fans coming to Toyota Center for a game or concert will go through a metal detector screening at the gate before scanning their ticket. Fans with a bag will go through a bag inspection check at the gate. The bag inspection includes reviewing the size of the bag and the content inside to ensure it can enter the stadium. Assuming no issues with your bag, you will get it back to enter the stadium for your event.
What are the Prohibited Items that Fans Can’t Bring into Toyota Center?

Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area at Toyota Center?
If your bag can’t come into Toyota Center with you, you must bring it back to your car and leave it there. From there, you’ll need to get back in line for another metal detector screening before scanning your ticket. If you have a backpack with you, consider leaving that in your car before heading to the arena.
If you don’t have a car to leave your bag in, see if a nearby hotel or bar can watch your stuff. Plenty of bars and hotels in the Central Business District Area of Houston are within walking distance of the Houston Rockets arena for you to see if they can watch your bag. Most places, in general, charge a bag holding fee, so expect to pay around $10 per bag for these places to hold onto your stuff.
