Target Field Bag Policy

Target Field is the Major League Baseball home of the Minnesota Twins at 1 Twins Way, Minneapolis, MN 55403. The bag policy at Target Field is that bags that don’t exceed 16″ x 16″ x 8″ are acceptable to bring into the venue. That includes backpacks, clear bags, diaper bags, purses, and tote bags.

Here is the complete Target Field bag policy and more for your next baseball game or another event at Target Field. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

  • Any ADA-compliant bag for that individual

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience

My Clear Bag Recommendation

From my experience, I like to bring a clear fanny pack to MLB venues for a few reasons. First, my clear fanny pack is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″, which puts it far below the max size limit that venues have today. Second, the bag is clear, so it will pass the clear bag check at the gate. Third, I like how my fanny pack feels as I wear it. Some fanny packs are incredibly bulky, but the one that I have is lightweight and easy to wear. Also, I’ve brought this same bag to countless other venues without any problem.

Below is a video of me going into more detail on why I recommend this type of bag for MLB games.

How Does Target Field Review Your Bag?

Fans entering the stadium on game day will go through a metal detector at the Target Field gates. Fans with a bag will have the stadium security staff inspect the outside and inside of the bag to check for prohibited items. If the bag is bigger than 16″ x 16″ x 8″ or if items can’t enter the stadium, fans will need to surrender those belongings before entering the stadium. Otherwise, they must put that bag or things in their car, the storage locker at Gate 6, or another place.

What Items Can't You Bring into Target Field

There is an extensive list of prohibited items that Twins fans can’t bring into Target Field for a game. Some of the most common things that fans can’t bring into the venue are below. However, before your next Twins baseball game, visiting the official prohibited items list is best to ensure the rules do not change or update.

What Should You Do If Your Bag Is Too Big to Enter the Minnesota Twins Ballpark?

If your backpack is too big to get into the Twins game at Target Field, you can get a locker near Gate 6 and at the Target Field Station. These lockers come on a first come and first served basis, so plan to arrive early to the game if you have any concerns that your bag may not be allowed inside the venue.

If no lockers are available at Gate 6 and Target Field Station, you can leave your bag and belongings in your car. Leaving your belongings in your vehicle is the safest and best option if you drive and park directly at the stadium.

However, if you took public transportation to the game, you can see if a nearby hotel will hold onto your bag in their storage area. Numerous hotels in the Downtown West District are less than a mile from the stadium, so head over there to see if they will take your bag. Hotel bag storage also comes on a first-come and first-served basis.
