T-Mobile Park Bag Policy

T-Mobile Park (formerly Safeco Field) is the Major League Baseball home of the Seattle Mariners at 1250 1st Ave S, Seattle, Washington 98134. The bag policy at the venue is that only clear plastic bags and vinyl bags that don’t exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ can enter the stadium. Small clutches, purses, and similar bags can also enter the stadium, but traditional multi-compartment backpacks and other similar types of bags can’t.

Here is the complete T-Mobile Park Bag Policy for your next event or baseball game at the ballpark. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

Approved Bags

When coming to a Mariners game, your best bet is to bring a clear single-compartment bag into the stadium that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″. Small purses are ok as well, as long as they are a single compartment and aren’t larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″.

  • An ADA-approved bag
  • Any medical bag. The stadium staff will make exceptions if a fan needs a bag that is bigger for any medical reasons
  • Any clear bag that is a single compartment that doesn’t exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
  • One-gallon clear plastic bags
  • A clear fanny pack
  • Small clutch bags
  • Small purses
  • Clear tote bags/drawstrings that don’t 12″ x 6″ x 12″

My Clear Bag Recommendation +Experience

The Bag I Recommend

T-Mobile Park has a similar bag policy to other venues I’ve been to with a bag. From my experience, I’ve never had an issue bringing my clear fanny pack that measures 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″ into any arena. On top of knowing that this bag will pass the security check, I also like bringing it to places since it is not bulky, and it is easy to wear.

Below is a video of me explaining why I recommend this type of bag in more detail.

Consider purchasing a clear single-compartment bag for your next stadium visit!

How Does T-Mobile Park Review Your Bag?

How Does T-Mobile Park Review Your Bag

The stadium has metal detectors that fans must use before scanning their game-day ticket. If a fan has a bag with them, the security staff at the venue will inspect that separately. The inspection includes reviewing the inside and outside of the bag, ensuring it fits the size requirement, and doesn’t contain any prohibited items. If there are any issues with your items or bag, they won’t be allowed to enter the ballpark.

Fans should familiarize themselves with the prohibited items list when coming to a ballgame in Seattle. Below are some more common items the stadium security staff won’t allow inside the arena. However, to make sure you don’t run into any issues on game day, you should visit the official prohibited items list just in case it updates before your visit.

  • Aerosol containers
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Any animal not for ADA purposes
  • Backpacks that exceed the single-compartment or size requirements
  • Drones
  • Coolers
  • Flasks
  • Self-defense sprays
  • Weapons of any kind

What Should You Do If Your Bag Is Too Big to Enter the Mariners Venue?

If your bag is too big to enter T-Mobile Park, you have three options on what to do next. First, if your car is in the Mariners’ garage, you can then bring your belongings there and leave them in the car before getting back in line to enter the stadium.

If you took the light rail, a rideshare program, or something else to the MLB venue, your next best option is to leave your belongings at the locker storage across from the stadium. A locker storage service across the stadium can take your belongings, but spots can sell out quickly for specific events.

The third option is to head to a nearby hotel to see if they will hold onto your belongings. There are a few hotel options that are near Lumen Field, which is where the Seattle Seahawks play football. Their arena sits directly next to T-Mobile Park, which means these hotels are nearby. Most hotels charge a small fee to hold onto your belongings when you go to a game, but it does come on a first come and first served basis.
