Footprint Center (previously Talking Sticks Resort Arena and Phoenix Suns Arena) is the NBA home of the Phoenix Suns at 201 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, Arizona, 85004. The bag policy at the arena for a game or concert is that bags that are a single-compartment that don’t exceed 14″ x 14″ x 6″ can enter the venue. That includes bags like clear backpacks, tote bags, drawstrings, medical bags, and more that are single-compartment and aren’t larger than 14″ x 14″ x 6″ are acceptable to bring into the arena.
Here is the full Footprint Center Bag Policy breakdown and more for your next game or event. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

My Clear Bag Recommendation + Experience
I’ve been to plenty of venues that have a similar bag policy as Footprint Center. From my experience, I have never had an issue getting my clear fanny pack through the bag check process. My clear fanny pack measures 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″ in size, so it is not very big.
Below is a video of me going into this in more detail.

How Does Footprint Center Review Your Bag?
There are metal detectors that fans must go through before scanning their ticket to gain entry into the Phoenix Suns venue. Fans with bags will hand them to the security staff working the gate for a separate inspection. The individual assessment will review the outside and inside of the bag and the things inside it to ensure they don’t match the prohibited items list.
What Items Can’t You Bring into the Phoenix Suns Arena?
Fans coming to the Phoenix Suns Arena for a basketball game or concert must know the list of prohibited items. Be sure to visit the official prohibited items list from the Phoenix Suns before your next visit to see the most up-to-date information. However, here are some common items fans can’t bring into the arena for game day.
- Standard backpacks (purses that also look like backpacks can’t enter)
- Bags larger than 14″ x 14″ x 6
- Any weapons
- Glassware
- Fireworks

What Should You Do If Your Bags Is Too Big to Enter the Phoenix Suns Venue?
If your bag is too big to enter the basketball arena, you have a few options on what to do next. First, you can bring that bag back to your car and leave it there before getting back in line for the game.
Second, if you take public transportation to the arena, your next best bet is to leave your bag at a nearby hotel since you don’t have a car. Plenty of hotels near the basketball arena are within walking distance. Most hotels will charge a small fee to hold onto your belongings, but they operate on a first come and first served basis.
Third, if you try and bring outside food or drinks into the venue, the security staff won’t allow you to enter with them. You can either finish that food and drink before entering the stadium or throw them away and enter the arena.
