Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium Bag Policy

Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is home to the Texas Longhorns college football team at 2139 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin, TX 78712. The bag policy at the Texas Longhorns stadium permits fans to bring in one clear single-compartment bag that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ in size. However, fans can also bring in non-clear clutch bags, purses, wristlets, wallets, or something similar that doesn’t exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″ in size in addition to the clear bag.

Here is the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium bag policy guide for your next Texas Longhorns college football game. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game.

Approved Bags

The Texas Longhorns college football stadium, like most college football stadiums, only allows clear single-compartment bags inside their venue. However, there are minor exceptions to that bag rule. Below are the types of bags fans can bring into the stadium for a college football game.

  • A clear single-compartment bag that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″. As a note, the stadium staff does not allow non-clear diaper bags into the venue. Therefore, if you need to bring a diaper bag to the game, put that content into a clear bag
  • A clear one-gallon ziplock bag
  • Small wristlets and similar bags that don’t exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″. As a reminder, these types of bags don’t need to be clear
  • Medical bags
  • ADA bags

My Clear Bag Recommendation + My Experience

The Bag I Recommend

I bring my clear fanny pack (11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″) to college football games for a variety of reasons. The first is that it is a clear bag, which is what all venues either have or are moving towards. Second is that the bag itself is not bulky, which means it is not uncomfortable to wear as I walk around with it at a game. The third reason why I like this bag so much for games is that I have never had an issue getting this through a bag check at the gate.

Below is my video of me talking about my clear bag in more detail.

There is no on-site locker storage option for fans to store their bag if they can’t bring them into the Texas Longhorn Stadium. Therefore, leave any non-clear-single compartment bag in your car before heading to the stadium.

However, while you can’t bring traditional backpacks and coolers into the stadium, you can for tailgating in the parking lots. There is no problem bringing backpacks, coolers, fanny packs, and so on to the parking lots to partake in tailgating before a game. Just make sure that you leave those bags in a car before heading to the stadium for a game.
