Caesars Superdome Bag Policy

Caesars Superdome (previously known as Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Superdome) is home to the New Orleans Saints NFL team at 1500 Sugar Bowl Dr, New Orleans, Louisiana 70112. The Superdome has a clear bag policy rule that permits fans to bring in a clear single-compartment bag that doesn’t exceed 12″ x 6″ x12″. Fans can also carry in a small clutch bag in addition to the clear single-compartment bag as long as that does not exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″.

Here is the Caesars Superdome bag policy guide for your next NFL game, concert, or event. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game. Finally, there is an affiliate link to Amazon on this page.

Approved Bags

Caesars Superdome, like other NFL venues, only allows fans to bring in clear bags. However, this rule has minor anomalies, like if you want to bring in a small clutch purse. Below are the bags that can enter the NFL Stadium out in New Orleans.

  • A clear single-compartment bag that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
  • A one-gallon size freezer bag/clear plastic bag/Ziploc bag
  • Clear purses
  • A clear medical bag
  • A clear diaper bag
  • Any ADA-specific bag.
  • A small clutch bag / small clutch purse

My Clear Bag Recommendation + My Experience

The Bag I Recommend

I went to Caesars Superdome with my girlfriend and her purse got turned away at the gate since it was not clear. The staff is very strict via the clear bag policy. They only allow clear bags to enter the venue. There is a store across the street that you can store your bag in if it can’t enter the venue. However, your best bet is to buy a clear bag if you need to bring a bag to the venue and don’t have one already.

Below is a video of me explaining why I recommend bringing a clear fanny pack to the game. As a note, my clear bag in this video is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″ in size.

How Does the Caesars Superdome Security Staff Review Bags?

How Does the Caesars Superdome Security Staff Review Bags

Fans arriving at the Caesars Superdome for an NFL game or another event will go through a walk-through metal detector at the entrance. Fans who have a bag with them will have that go through an additional security check at the entrance. The bag security checks to see if the bag is clear, does not exceed the size limit, and does not contain any prohibited items that come into the arena. Presuming there are no issues with the bag or items inside of it, the fan will get it back to bring into the stadium.

Fans coming to the Superdome for a game or concert should understand that certain items can’t enter the arena. Some things the security team won’t permit inside the venue are below. Consider checking out the official prohibited items list for the most up-to-date information.

  • Non-clear bags, except for small clutches. (Backpacks, binocular cases, clear backpacks, fanny packs, seat cushions with pockets, duffle bags, and large purses)
  • Bats
  • Clear bags larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″
  • Alcohol
  • Bottles
  • Drones
  • Fireworks
  • Glassware
  • iPads and tablets
  • Laser pointers

Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area at Caesars Superdome?

If your bag can’t enter with you at the Superdome for an event, you must bring them back to your car and leave them there. If you are tailgating in the parking lots before game day and have bags with you, consider leaving them in your car before walking to the stadium. Traditional bags, like backpacks, can’t enter the stadium, so your best bet is to leave them there so you don’t miss kickoff having to walk back to the parking lot to leave your bag in your car.

If you don’t have a car to leave your bag in when going to the Superdome for a game, see if a nearby hotel or bar can watch your stuff. There are several bars and hotels within walking distance of the NFL stadium that you can see if they can watch your stuff. Most places (hotels and bars) charge a small fee to hold onto bags, assuming they have the space to do so at their establishment.
