Boone Pickens Stadium is home to the Oklahoma State University Cowboys college football team. The bag policy at the stadium permits fans to bring one clear-single compartment bag that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ in size. Small clutch bags and similar types of bags that don’t exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″ can also come into the arena even if they are not clear.
Here is the Boone Pickens Stadium bag policy guide for your next Oklahoma State University Cowboys game. I also share my bag recommendation on what to bring to the game.
Approved Bags
Boone Pickens Stadium, like most college football venues, has a strict clear bag policy for fans to adhere to. However, there are minor exceptions to the clear bag rule. Below are the types of bags that can enter the venue for a game.
- A clear plastic tote, plastic, PVC, or vinyl bag no bigger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″
- A clear drawstring bag no larger than 12″ x 12″
- Small clutch purses and wristlets (can contain a strap) no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″. As a note, these don’t need to be clear and can accompany a clear plastic bag.
- A clear plastic freezer bag
- Diaper bags that accompany a child
- Medical bags / ADA bags
My Clear Bag Recommendation + My Experience
When I need to bring a bag to a college football venue, I bring my clear fanny pack for two reasons. First, the bag itself is small and clear, so there are no issues getting this through the bag check at the gate. The clear fanny pack that I bring to venues is 11″ x 6.5″ x 5.9″, so it is far below the size limit that venues have it place. Second, the bag is easy to carry both in my hand and to wear around my chest.
Below is a video of me explaining what I tend to put into my fanny pack for games.
How Does the Boone Pickens Stadium Security Team Review Bags?
Fans arriving at Boone Pickens Stadium for a game will undergo a metal detector screening prior to entering the venue. Fans with a bag with them will undergo an additional security inspection that will have a staff member examine their bag. The bag check ensures the bag is clear, is no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″, and contains no prohibited items. If there are any issues with the bag or items during the assessment, you won’t be allowed to bring them into the stadium for the game.
What are the Prohibited Items that Fans Can’t Bring into Boone Pickens Stadium?
Fans planning their next trip to Boone Pickens Stadium should be aware that certain things can’t come into the venue with them. Below are some items the security staff at the entrance won’t allow you to enter during the metal detector screening. Visit the team’s “Game Day Plan” section on their website to learn about what can’t come into the venue.
- Clear single-compartment bags larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″
- Prohibited bags including but not limited to chairbacks, purses, tinted mesh bags, seat cushions with zippers, camera cases, drawstring bags, backpacks, fanny packs, and more
- Banners
- Animals not for ADA purposes
- Umbrellas
- Outside food and drink
- Weapons of any kind
- Laser pointers
- Tripods
- Drones
- Beach balls
Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area at Boone Pickens Stadium?
There is no official locker storage unit to leave your bag if it can’t enter the college football stadium. Therefore, if your bag can’t come into the stadium after an examination at the gate, you will be asked to return it to your car and leave it there. After that, you can get back in line to enter the stadium without your bag.
Also, if you plan on tailgating before a game, you bring backpacks and coolers to the parking lots for that. Backpacks and coolers are fine to bring for tailgating, but they can’t come into the stadium for a game.
