Bell Centre is home to the Montreal Canadiens NHL team at 1909 Av. des Canadiens-de-Montréal, Montréal, QC H3B 5E8, Canada. The Bell Centre bag policy only allows fans to bring in bags that don’t exceed 35cm x 35cm x 15.25 cm (roughly 14 inches by 14 inches by 6 inches) in size. Otherwise, traditional backpacks and coolers can’t come into the arena with fans for any event.
Here is the complete Bell Centre Bag Policy guide for your next event.
How Does the Bell Centre Security Team Review Bags?
Fans arriving at Bell Centre for a hockey game or concert will undergo a metal detector screening before scanning their ticket for entry. Fans with a bag will also go through a bag inspection at the gate. The security team at the entrance will review the bag, its size, and the items inside it. If there are no issues with your bag, you will get it back to come inside the arena with you.
For the most part, Bell Centre wants you to refrain from bringing bags into the venue. The only exception to the rule is small bags that don’t exceed 35cm x 35cm x 15.25 cm in size. Below are the types of bags you can bring to the venue.
- Small clutch bags that don’t exceed 35cm x 35cm x 15.25 cm
- Clear small single-compartment bags that don’t exceed 35cm x 35cm x 15.25 cm. Consider bringing a clear fanny pack with only one compartment to ensure it does not exceed the size restriction.

Is There a Bag Check or Locker Storage Area at Bell Centre?
If your bag can’t come into Bell Centre for a game or concert, consider checking out the Lucien-L’Allier train station to leave your bags there. You can rent lockers to put your bags in and then head to the hockey arena for a game. This train station sits directly next to the hockey venue, which makes it the best option if you don’t have a car to leave your bag in.
If you have a car to leave your bag in, consider doing that before walking to the arena. Unless you have a small bag that does not exceed the size limit, all other bags won’t be allowed inside the stadium. Therefore, if you have a backpack or something similar, leave it in your car before getting in line for your event, so you save your time.
Finally, you can see if a nearby hotel can watch your bag for you before heading to the arena. Numerous hotels are within walking distance of Bell Centre. Most hotels charge a bag holding fee per bag for you. However, hotel storage comes on a first come and first served basis, so there is no guarantee they will have space to watch your bags for you.
