Since the opening of the field, Minute Maid Park has been able to keep their attendance mostly the same. The park as of 2017 seats 41,168 people. Citi Field capacity is similar to this venue by being in the 40k range. Many renovations have taken place at the ballpark which I will discuss further down, but the capacity has stayed virtually the same. Houston Astros Tickets

Getting tickets to an Astros home game is more demanding than other places to catch a game. The Houston Astros have been one of the best teams in MLB over the past few years, so demand is extremely high to go to a game. The Astros won the World Series in 2017 when they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, so interest for their tickets continues to be challenging from that championship run. The Houston Astros are one of the four best teams in the American League with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Cleveland Indians, so you can expect tickets to be hard to come by when these teams play against each other.

Nearby Parks

The closest ballpark to Minute Maid Park is Globe Life Park which is where the Texas Rangers play. The drive is just under 4 hours north of Houston to get to Arlington. The Astro and Rangers play against each other often since they are in the same division, so you can expect big crowds when it’s a battle of Texas.

Notable Features

Minute Maid Park has many notable features that set it apart from other MLB parks. One way that Minute Maid Park separates itself from other parks is by having a retractable roof. With the summer months bringing extreme heat to Texas, the Houston Astros can play baseball in colder temperatures. Having cooler baseball games is excellent for fans visiting where they don’t have to worry about hot summer days or rainy nights to ruin the game experience. When you compare a dome stadium like Rays Stadium to Minute Maid, you will see the retractable roof is the more ideal situation.

There is a train track that is visible both from the interior and exterior of the ballpark. When the Astros take the field, you will see the train move down the 800-foot track. Same goes when the Astros win a ball game and when the Astros hit a home run.

One of the most notable features in the ballpark was Tal’s Hill. Tal’s Hill was a hill out in center field that was in play during the game. In 2015, the Astros replaced this hill which brought the center field dimensions in from 436 feet to 409 feet. After 2015, the Astros removed that hill, lowered the distance to 409 feet, and added in new sections to the outfield mezzanine.

Another notable features of the park is their mascot. Not every MLB team has a mascot, but the Houston Astros have one that brings the crowd to it’s feet. The name of the Houston Astros mascot is Orbit.
